Jason Boucher
What Town is Next Campaign for JEL Iowa
AAF Dubuque welcomes Jason Boucher from ZLR IGNITION as he presents What Town is Next Campaign for JEL Iowa on Thursday, August 20, 2009.
Jason Boucher will explain their strategy and approach to reach teens and showcase work from the last 12-18 months, and discuss the results from the campaign. He'll go over strategic and creative techniques used by his team and showcase some of their best pieces from their history with the client.
Jason brings a combination of strategic thinking and media buying expertise to work for the Iowa Department of Public Health Division of Tobacco Use Prevention and Control, Iowa State University and other ZLRIGNITION clients.
After serving three years as a media buyer for ZLRIGNITION, Jason went back to school where he earned a Master of Science degree in Journalism and Communication from Iowa State University. While seeking his masters, Jason served as an instructor of Advanced Advertising Campaigns and has since taught other advertising media courses at Iowa State University.
Jason is also active in the American Advertising Federation of Des Moines.

Public Service Committee
Welcome Annie Koelker to the Board of Directors! Annie will serve as the Public Service Director, she is employed at the Dubuque Chamber of Commerce as the Marketing Assistant.
We are seeking committee members to assist Annie in this year's Public Service Project. Committee members will collaborate with a deserving non-profit organization to provide marketing/advertising assistance. Examples of services donated by the public service committee include logo development, design of print pieces and advertising, media planning, and copywriting. Previously, the committee has worked with organizations including Maria House, Stonehill Adult Day Care, the Make-a-Will Committee, Four Mounds, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Dubuque, Hospice of Dubuque, Dubuque County Conservation Board, Dubuque County Empowerment, and Crescent Community Health Center.

Public Service Applications Due
Each year AAF Dubuque's Public Service Committee selects a non-profit organization to donate the time and talents of advertising and marketing professionals to help the organization reach its advertising and marketing goals. Club members are professionals from the tri-state area who work in the marketing and advertising industries, ranging from advertising agencies to printing companies.
The Public Service Committee is now accepting applications from non-profit organizations. If you have a public service advertising campaign we could assist you in building, please download the application and return by Tuesday, September 15, 2009.

AAF Dubuque Supports Voices from the Warehouse
Feed your creative spirit Saturday, Sept. 12 during the opening night of Voices from the Warehouse Fine Arts Exhibit, sponsored by The Dubuque County Fine Arts Society and supported once again by AAF Dubuque.
The annual and celebrated exhibit runs select days through October 4, 2009 and can be seen at the Voices Warehouse Gallery, 1000 Jackson Street. This high profile art exhibit will feature regional and national work in a non-intimidating atmosphere that celebrates the infusion of art, music, film, theatre, architecture, and words.
Opening night runs from 7-11 pm, with food and beverages provided with a donation at the door. AAF Dubuque volunteers will be managing the bar and educating patrons about our organization through word of mouth and good ol' fashioned guerilla marketing tactics.

Mines of Spain Get the Lead Out Benefit Run
We're assembling an AAF Dubuque team for the Mines of Spain Get the Lead Out benefit run on October 10. This is a benefit run for the EB Lyons Expansion Project. A few board members have committed to the 5K run (that's 3 miles). Get on a fit kick with us! Anyone interested in participating should contact Tiffany Kuehn. Captain Jack's 5th Annual Pirate Party
AAF Dubuque be helpin' with Captain Jack's 5th Annual Pirate Party (over Labor Day weekend). Volunteers will help the club earn money for future social events and receive drink tickets for FREE Margaritas! Our task is to help with the Kid's Treasure Hunt which is on Sunday, September 6, from 12pm-2pm. Some plannin' is in the works, but we need more ideas and just a handful of volunteers. President's Message
Summer is winding down, but AAF Dubuque's new Public Service Director Annie Koelker is getting warmed up for a busy fall, as she begins the annual service campaign for a deserving local non-profit organization. Having personally served on the committee and as the director, I've seen how significant this campaign completion can be for the recipient. Please help us spread the word to eligible non-profits about this free service offered by our club. Applications are available online Download the Public Service Applicationthrough Sept. 15, and questions can be directed to Annie Koelker.
Planning is now underway for this year's ADDY Award competition and event, led by ADDY Director Amy Wickham. This is where you come in. Before you cast off reading the remainder, know that serving on the ADDY committee doesn't have to mean the committee owns you from now until February! If you only have a few hours to spare we welcome your help. This is your opportunity to help shape the ADDYs, as each year the committee considers new ways in which to present our markets' finest in creative! To become involved, contact Amy Wickham.
In closing, I hope to see many of you at this month's speaker luncheon, where we'll learn the strategy behind the "What Town is Next Campaign" targeting the seemingly elusive teen market.
