ADDY Goes to the Oscars


Walk the red carpet of the 2009 ADDY® Awards! Join us for an award-winning experience Friday, February 26 at Hotel Julien Dubuque, 200 Main Street, Dubuque. Cocktails and entry viewing begin at 5:30 pm, followed by a plated dinner at 6:30 pm. The curtain opens on the ADDY Awards ceremony at 7:30 pm. New this year... reserve a corporate table for 10 with company signage!

Creative Bloc - Igniting Powerful Ideas for 2010

AAF Dubuque Supports Legislative Day
The advertising industry experienced a legislative roller coaster in 2009. But with the grassroots strength of the AAF organization, advertising has survived these legislative threats - for now. AAF Dubuque is committed to strengthening our legislative voice in Iowa to help stem these threats in the future. To that end, AAF Dubuque is supporting the third annual legislative day on Tuesday, March 9, from 7-9am in the State of Iowa Capitol Building, Senate Room 116. This event is being coordinated by AAF Des Moines, and AAF Dubuque members are welcome and encouraged to attend. For more information on attending, please contact Jennifer Hanniford.

President's Message
Just in time to squash your winter blues and combat cabin fever...it's the annual ADDY Awards! Not only will the night's event renew your creative spirit and honor award-winning work, but Hotel Julien Dubuque is offering guests of the event a special room rate for the night of February 26. If you haven't been a guest at the all-new Hotel Julien - treat yourself - you won't be disappointed! To reserve an executive room at the rate of $90, please call Hotel Julien at (563) 556-4200 and ask for the AAF Dubuque room block. Your hotel reservation must be made by February 15.

Also new this year is your opportunity to reserve a corporate table for ten at the ADDYs, complete with company signage, which ensures you and your guests will be seated together without having to storm the ballroom for a table. Reservations for the ADDY Awards, whether it's individual or corporate table reservations, must be made no later than February 19.

Speaking of renewing your creative spirit, one of our ADDY judges from the west coast shared with me with some very good online educational resources while in Dubuque, one of which is the website Cheese or Font. Take Castellano for example. While I guessed that it's a font, it's actually a cheese, and 44% of people who play this online game - I mean, engage in this online tutorial - get stumped by that same question. Who knew?
