President's Message
Fall has arrived. I sometimes loathe the change in temperature but always look forward to the beautiful scenery our area provides this time of year. What better way to breathe in the change of season than to set sail with AAF Dubuque on Thursday, Oct. 8. Today is the last day to register for this event, so register now!
September's speaker luncheon drew quite a bit of buzz, as you may have heard. Jim Maivald, Adobe Certified Expert, presented tips and tricks on CS4 to a packed room. Positive feedback and requests for Jim to return for a longer session prompted the board react quickly to secure Maivald for full day presentations on Nov. 12 (Photoshop) and Nov. 13 (InDesign). As we anticipate both sessions being well-attended, we are opening registration to members first through Sunday, Oct. 11. After that date, registration will be open to all. Attend one or attend both. Affordable registration + no travel expenses + improved efficiency = great value. Don't miss this opportunity!
Lastly, I came across this news snippet that illustrates how social media (in this case, a blog) can tarnish a brand. The news article is about a blogger who made public, via his blog, his heated e-mail exchange with a city mayor, attracting national attention. The article serves as a reminder that whether good or bad, the outside world continues to effect our brand image, whether through traditional spoken word-of-mouth or social media.
